Jake Paul announced Monday that he will fight Tyron Woodley in a rematch bout on Dec. 18.

Jake Paul announced Monday that he will fight Tyron Woodley in a rematch bout on Dec. 18.

A Paul-Woodley fight will serve in place of Paul’s previous bout with Tommy Fury, who withdrew from the fight due to medical reasons that impacted his training camp, according to a press release from Showtime.

“The Furys have pulled out of the fight due to a ‘medical condition,’” Paul said in a video posted to social media.

“I couldn’t believe the news at first. It still doesn’t even seem real. He fumbled the biggest bag of his life. Now he’ll be watching at home paying me $60 instead of getting paid millions of dollars to fight me.

Woodley had competed in a mixed martial arts event in March, losing to Vicente Luque at UFC 260, and his fight with Paul marked his first-ever professional boxing bout.

Paul, 24, has a 4–0 record in his short boxing career, two of which took place this year.

He said on Monday he’s “giving [Woodley] $500,000 extra if he can knock me out.”

Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley 2 Fight Set After Tommy Fury Pulls Out

Tommy Fury has allegedly pulled out of his bout with YouTube sensation Jake Paul a little more than 10 days before the pair were planned to meet inside the squared circle.

Fierceness and Paul have assembled a remarkable contention as of late and months, one that was relied upon to reach a critical stage at a Showtime pay-per-view on December 18. In any case, after an underlying report from YouTube character Keemstar, sources affirmed to SunSport’s Chisanga Malata that the battle is off after the Englishman had to pull out.

Tyron Woodley got his wish to rematch Jake Paul, but UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping thinks the result will be the same as the first fight.

Paul (4-0) edged out Woodley (0-1) by split decision this past August in his toughest test to date. The former UFC welterweight champion was able to rock Paul in Round 4, but ultimately he was outpointed.

Tommy Fury is out

Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, posted a tweet thread on Monday announcing the change.

“I am absolutely heartbroken that I have been forced to withdraw from my fight with Jake Paul due to a bacterial chest infection and broken rib,” Fury said in one of the tweets. “I can’t express how disappointed I am and I really do hope we can get this fight rescheduled in the New Year, I want this fight to still happen more than anything.”

Robert Guerrero vs Victor Ortiz Fight Added To Pacquiao Vs. Spence Undercard On August 21st

That is a fight between two battle-tested fighters, which on paper for me has shades of Francisco Santana and Josseito Lopez.  Which beforehand was going to be a classic war, but instead became Santana being target practice for ten rounds before the fight finally being stopped.  Ortiz (32-6-3, 25 KOs) was last seen in a majority draw against Devon “The Great” Alexander in an absolute shootout but also back in 2018.

Hear us discuss more of the weekend of fights from the PBC on Fox show in Newark, NJ, to the Matchroom Boxing Card in Suburban London, and even the Olympics are getting down to important fights, on “The Big Fight Weekend Podcast” by clicking below,

Robert Guerrero vs Victor Ortiz

Guerrero (36-6-1, 20 KOs) has been on a three-fight win streak since that loss to Omar Figueroa Jr. back in 2017. However, those three wins have been against favorable opposition and the last one was Gerald Thomas on points back n 2019.  It’s a fight with two guys definitely looking to shake off the ring rust.

Featherweight contender Mark Magsayo (22-0, 15 KOs) will be battling the always tough Julio Ceja (32-4-1, 28 KOs). Unfortunately, Ceja hasn’t won a fight in four years since 2017, and unlikely that he’ll end his winless drought against Magsayo.

Manny Pacquiao vs Errol Spence Jr fight start time, live stream and TV channel

Manny Pacquiao and Errol Spence Jr. are set to meet in one of 2021’s most anticipated fights. The great Manny Pacquiao returns to the ring next month when he takes on undefeated American Errol Spence Jr for the WBC and IBF welterweight titles.

The WBC, IBF and Ring Magazine welterweight titles will be on the line at the T-Mobile Arena when Manny Pacquiao and Errol Spence Jr. meet on August 21st.

The eight-division world champion and Philippine Senator is looking to cement himself as one of the world’s greatest ever fighters against one of boxing’s best pound-for pound talents.

While this fight is certainly one that has got fans excited, there is a hint of disappointment with many wanting Spence to face WBO champion Terence Crawford in what would be a clash for the ages.

However, Pacquiao vs Spence is not a bad substitute, it offers an intriguing matchup and should light up the infamous Las Vegas strip.

Yordenis Ugas Vs Fabian Maidana Added To Pacquiao Vs. Spence Undercard On August 21st

Yordenis Ugas to defend his 147-pound title against Fabian Maidana on Aug. 21 in Las Vegas

Manny Pacquiao’s battle with Errol Spence Jr. won’t be the only welterweight title fight on Aug. 21 in Las Vegas. The undercard of Pacquiao-Spence Jr is like a Frankenstein monster of assembled fights that are frankly off-putting, starting with the Ugas vs Maidana.

Yordenis Ugas will defend his 147-pound title against Fabian Maidana in the chief-support bout on Fox pay-per-view, multiple sources tell ESPN. The other two matchups on the card: a fight between former 147-pound champions Robert Guerrero and Victor Ortiz, along with a 126-pound bout pitting Mark Magsayo vs. Julio Ceja, sources said.

Yordenis Ugas Vs Fabian Maidana

Ugas (26-4, 12 KOs) won the vacant WBA title with a decision-victory over Abel Ramos in September, but it was for the secondary version. The Panama City-based organization is notorious for having two (and in some cases, three or even four) champions in the same division, so it was widely expected Pacquiao would be reinstated as champion ahead of his fight with Spence.

But in a surprise move, the WBA earlier this month rejected Pacquiao’s petition to be recognized as champion, a title the future Hall-of-Famer won from Keith Thurman in 2019. Ugas, ESPN’s No. 6 welterweight, will make his first defense against the brother of Marcos Maidana.

Marcos Maidana, of course, is best known for two PPV fights with Floyd Mayweather, but also for his ferocious in-ring style that included a win over Adrien Broner and a loss to Amir Khan in the 2010 fight of the year.

Fabian Maidana (18-1, 13 KOs) isn’t well known and will be a massive underdog against Ugas.

Yordenis Ugas Vs Fabian Maidana Added To Pacquiao Vs. Spence Undercard On August 21st

Yordenis Ugas will be defending his WBA welterweight title against 140-lb fringe contender Fabian Maidana in the co-feature bout on the Manny Pacquiao vs. Errol Spence Jr card on FOX pay-per-view.

The 29-year-old Argentine will be challenging for his first title. Ugas has a deep resume as both an amateur and a pro. The 35-year-old dropped a controversial decision to Shawn Porter in a 2019 title fight, but own wins over Thomas Dulorme, Ray Robinson and Jamal James.

The Cuban won Olympic bronze in 2008 and now lives in Miami. In the third welterweight fight on the PPV, former 147-pound champions Guerrero and Ortiz will meet in a bout between two boxers nearing retirement. Both retired once already only to return.

And like Maidana, they both lost to Mayweather. Guerrero, 38, has won three fights against journeymen since suffering three consecutive losses. The Bay Area, California, native is a former three-division champion who possesses an aggressive style.

Guererro (36-6-1, 20 KOs) hasn’t competed since September 2019. It’s been an even longer layoff for Ortiz (32-6-3, 25 KOs). The 34-year-old was last in the ring in February 2018 when he settled for a draw with Devon Alexander. The Southern Californian hasn’t scored a meaningful win since he claimed the title with a 2011 victory over Andre Berto.

Magsayo (22-0, 15 KOs) is promoted by Pacquiao and is stepping way up in competition. A win over Ceja, a former 122-pound champion, should push the 26-year-old Filipino closer to the brink of a top-10 ranking at featherweight.

Ceja (32-4-1, 28 KOs) is coming off a draw with current 122-pound champion Brandon Figueroa. The 28-year-old Mexican was stopped by Guillermo Rigondeaux in the prior bout.

Mark Magsayo vs Julio Ceja Set For Spence-Pacquiao Undercard August 21

Another Filipino fighter trained by Freddie Roach will try to take a significant step toward a title shot August 21. BoxingScene.com has learned that undefeated Mark Magsayo v Julio Ceja have agreed to meet in a WBC featherweight elimination match on the Errol Spence Jr.-Manny Pacquiao undercard at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

FOX will broadcast the 12-round, 126-pound bout between the Philippines’ Magsayo and Mexico’s Ceja as part of a telecast that’ll air before the pay-per-view portion of the Spence-Pacquiao show.

Mark Magsayo vs Julio Ceja

Magsayo (22-0, 15 KOs), who is co-promoted by Pacquiao’s company, is listed fifth by the WBC in its 126-pound rankings. Ceja (32-4-1, 28 KOs) is the WBC’s 11th-rated featherweight contender.

Barring a draw, the winner will move closer toward a shot at long-reigning WBC featherweight champion Gary Russell Jr. (31-1, 18 KOs).

Magsayo, 26, stopped Mexico’s Pablo Cruz (21-4, 6 KOs) in the fourth round of his most recent appearance, a non-televised eight-rounder April 10 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Roach trains Magsayo and Pacquiao.

Ceja, 28, is 0-2-1 in his past three fights, but the former WBC super bantamweight champion nearly pulled off an upset in his last fight.

He beat Brandon Figueroa on one scorecard, 116-112, in November 2019. Their fight resulted in a split draw because Figueroa defeated him on another card, 115-113, and a third judge scored their 12-round, 122-pound championship match even, 114-114, on the Deontay Wilder-Luis Ortiz undercard at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Ceja, who resides in Palmdale, California, has not fought in the 19 months since he faced Figueroa (22-0-1, 17 KOs) in what was supposed to be a shot at Figueroa’s WBA world super bantamweight title. An unusually overweight Ceja came in at 126½ pounds for their 122-pound title fight and thus was ineligible to win Figueroa’s belt.

Ceja consequently has moved up from 122 pounds to the 126-pound limit to meet Magsayo.

In the main event, Spence (27-0, 21 KOs) will defend his IBF and WBC welterweight titles against the legendary Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KOs).

Pacquiao, 42, will end a two-year layoff versus Spence, of DeSoto, Texas, in their FOX Sports Pay-Per-View bout. The Filipino southpaw hasn’t boxed since he edged previously unbeaten Keith Thurman (29-1, 22 KOs, 1 NC) by split decision in their 12-round fight for Thurman’s WBA “super” welterweight title in July 2019 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

WBA orders Jamal James to face Radzhab Butaev

Minneapolis native Jamal “Shango” James is the WBA interim Welterweight Champion and the belt fits him just fine. James defeated Thomas Dulorme in a unanimous decision August 2020.

Although the fight isn’t set in stone just yet, the likely title defense for James will be against Russian fighter Radzhab Butaev. The fight is expected to be a part of the undercard for the Manny Pacquiao-Errol Spence Jr. matchup in Las Vegas on August 21st. The title defense will be James’ biggest payday of his professional career.

“It’s definitely huge! That’s a big undercard to be on. When they usually put you on those types of undercards that means they’re starting to look at you as a contender with the headliners. So hopefully that’s what they’re hoping to set up,” James told KSTP.

James was joined at Thursday’s press conference at the Armory by David Morrell Jr. of Cuba. He been training in the Twin Cities for a while. Morrell Jr. won his last fight vs. Mario Cazares with a 1st round knockout on June 27th.

“I love training here in Minneapolis. If I can spend time with Jamal James and take that experience and apply it to what I’m trying to do I’ll be a better fighter,” Morrell Jr said.

Morrell Jr.’s next fight is to be determined. But that early knockout last month on national television captured the attention of many.
